About Anchor Paint

Anchor Paint started from humble beginnings. Brothers Emerson and Roy Fowler were two talented chemists who also had the unique ability to engineer and build manufacturing machinery. The brothers saw a need in the market for high-quality industrial coatings, architectural house paint, spray equipment, and associated sundries.

The Fowler brothers and their two wives, Wanda and Annie, founded Anchor Paint Mfg. Co. in 1962. The two couples worked hard to get Anchor Paint off the ground—Emerson headed up sales, Roy ran production, Annie handled office administration, and Wanda managed the financials.

Their hard work, sacrifice, and dedication paid off. Within three years, they outgrew their original location and moved to a bigger facility where the current headquarters of Anchor Paint currently resides at 6707 E. 14th St. in Tulsa, Ok.

Anchor Paint Today

In June of 2024 the majority ownership of Anchor Paint Manufacturing was purchased by Travis Detter, the Founder and President of Spectrum Paint. Spectrum Paint is also a Tulsa based company with over 120 locations in multiple states and is the largest independent distributor in the USA.

Along with the change in ownership new management was put into place in early 2025. The goal is to honor the heritage of Anchor Paint along with maintaining the core products that have made Anchor Paint a strong brand name in the industry. With that, the new Anchor Paint will also strive to develop new products, new customers, new energy and more. The manufacturing facility has already implemented several upgrades and will continue to do so in the future.

Anchor Paint has also instituted an extra level of Quality Control testing for its products. We perform standard tests such as sag, adhesion, hide, sheen, viscosity, etc… on all our products. Now we also have real world application testing. We do this for both the architectural and industrial products.
