<<Back to Data Sheets

Product Profile:
General Description:
A quick-drying, high solids, acrylic alkyd enamel developed for industrial applications.
Common Usage:
Typical uses include heavy equipment, machinery, fabricated steel and as a general maintenance coating. This is a V.O.C. compliant coating that offers superior gloss, coverage, hardness, and a fast cure time compared to conventional heavy duty enamels.
Color: White, Standard and Custom colors
Finish: High Gloss

Coating Systems:
Primer Coats:
Low V.O.C. primers, Anchor #B-7911, #CC-54 or other barrier type primers for best performance. LoVoc may be applied directly to metal over properly prepared steel surfaces. Consult your Anchor representative for specific job recommendations.

Surface Preparation:
The surface substrate should be cleaned in accordance with SSPC-SP6 commercial blast. If this is not feasible, then clean to SSPC-SP1 standards. All burrs should be ground down. Where weathered steel is applicable and where the substrate has reached rust grade, an appropriate chemical cleaning or blasting will be necessary. This product is designed to be applied over barrier type primers or intermediate coats. When this is not feasible, the coating can be directly applied to clean metal making sure a maximum millage of 2 mils dry per coat is achieved.

Application:
Coverage Rates Per Coat:
Dry Mils Wet Mils Sq.Ft./Gal.
Suggested: 1.8 3.1 502
Minimum: 1.6 2.8 565
Maximum: 2.0 3.5 452
Mixing: Stir thoroughly, making sure no pigment remains on the bottom of the can.
Thinning: This coating is V.O.C. compliant, thin only if necessary with Anchor #J-34 or #J-22M if permitted by federal, state, and local regulations.
Surface Temperature:
Minimum 40 F Maximum 110 F
The surface should be dry and the relative humidity should be less than 85%.
Application Equipment:
Airless Spray
This material dries very fast. Use small to medium size fine finish tips and pressures that allow for wet coat without excessive overspray or dusting. The use of a fine finish tip may improve results.
Pressure: 1200-2200 psi.
Tip: .011"-.015"
Conventional Spray
Air Pressure: 60-80 psi.
Fluid Pressure: 10-20 psi.
Cleanup: Use Anchor #J-34 or #J-22M synthetic thinner.
Application Considerations:
Note: This finish will build much faster than conventional enamel such as #1200 Quick Touch Enamel. Use caution when applying to avoid excessive film build. Apply in wet coats to avoid dusting. When spraying, use a cross- hatch method, overlapping each pass 50%. Clean spray system throughout before and after each use. Do not apply when the temperature is within 5% degrees F of the dewpoint. On a derusted surface, the application of a dry film thickness of at least 2 mils is recommended.
